The new version of the software comes with DirectX 11 with Apple Metal Engine which means it can render 3D graphics up to 15 percent faster. As reported by MacRumours the software also adds support for new Catalina’s upcoming Sidecar feature, as well as improved drag and drop and Apple Pencil support.
In the present, no Virtualization software is able to match the performance of games as we see natively, but it’s noteworthy that the new version of the software is able to open Microsoft Office apps up to 80 percent faster, and it also supports a wider range of non-gaming applications including Autodesk 3ds Max 2020.
Games: Madden NFL 19, Age of Empires: Definitive Edition, Anno 2205, Railway Empire, Space Engineers, Frostpunk, Risk of Rain 2 and many more.
- Gaming Performance (does not apply if using macOS 10.15 Catalina): Worse than Parallels 14,.currently. Parallels 15 (PD15) introduced DX11 support on macOS, which previously was not possible. However, from my experience using Parallels 15 so far (applies for Mojave, not Catalina), there are still limitations to playing these DX11 games.
- Jun 02, 2020 Starting from Parallels Desktop 15. NOTE: Starting from Parallels Desktop 15, 3D acceleration is enabled by default in Windows virtual machines. A special checkbox in configuration of Windows virtual machines allowed you to disable or change the level of 3D acceleration in Windows has been removed due to very low usage of the feature.
It requires users to be running the current version of the macOS Mojave and Catalina-specific features are to be rolled out when the new macOS will be released by Apple.
